HISTORY
With the blessings of Syedna Taher
Saifuddin Saheb (A.Q) the 51st DAI UL MUTLAQ , a
savings scheme was started in 1962, with daily saving of Rs.
87/- and with a membership of 59 members. The scheme was for 500
days and was registered as a society.
Subsequently to facilitate functioning of
the society , it was advised to get it registered as a Trust,
and hence the Association was registered as a PUBLIC CHARITABLE
TRUST, in the year 1963.
In 1979, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin Saheb
(TUS) organised “AL MULTAQ AL FATEMI AL ILMI”in
Surat where in Aqa Maula gave an injunction to all mumineen to
conduct their financial affairs without interest.
The Association immediately responded to
the directives of Aqa Maula (TUS) and encashed the Bank FDRs
worth several lacs, forgoing the interest due on them. At the
same time about 400 firms affiliated to The Association were
helped to free themselves from the clutches of interest.
Since Multaqa the Association has been
conducting Bachat Yojnal Karzan Hasana strictly on the
Principles of Islamic Sahrait. The beneficiaries are 1700
mumineens.
The benefits accrue to all communities. By
the grace of Allah, and the blessings of His Holiness Syedna
Mohammed Burhanuddin Saheb (TUS), today in the year 2001 A.D.
the l.D.B.M.A. has grown to strength of more then 120 shops,
sponsor members comprising of various traders like Hardware,
Tools, Electricals, Kitchen Appliances, Crockery, Household
Appliances etc. Most shops are over 50 years old and there are
few who have celebrated centenaries.
L.D.B.M.A. does not however have only
traders based in Lohar Chawl as its members. Its membership
extends to the paper, paints and other markets as well. In short
L.D.B.M.A. has practically all major traders in its fold.
OBJECTS
The paramount objects of the Association
are:

To grant Karz to the needy on
easy terms for the furtherance of business, commerce and
industry.

To give financial aid for
Education, Medical purposes and Social causes.
·
To assist the community members
to become self sufficient.
·
The Association ensures that
none of the mumineens shops are sold due to financial problems.
FUNCTION AND ACTIVITIES:-

Khidmat to mumineensand others
at the time of disaster and natural calamities by surveying
counseling, financial help, management studies etc …
·
The Association has running
scheme to facilitate Haj & Karbala Ziyarat on Easy terms.

In accordance with the Misal Sharif and win according with missal
sharif and with directives from Al Vazaraat-us-Saifiyah .The
Association was entrusted with the task of guiding other shops in
Lohar Chawl, which were financially very week due to heavy burden
of interest and were provided with funds on easy terms to make
them free from interest.
L.D.B.M.A. does not confine itself only to charitable objects. It
also takes lead as a representative body of mumineen traders in
legal matters. The most recent being, the filing of petition in
the High Court, against Hawking Zones.
Scholarships are given to the children the children of needy
gumasta mumineens working in Lohar Chawl only.
Saving schemed for children helps to promote a habit of savings in
the young. This scheme also helps to build up their capital for
future use.
The Lohar Chawl Dawoodi Bohra Merchants Association is eternally
grateful to His Holiness Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin Saheb (TUS)
for providing vision, continuous guidance and His blessings, for
Khidmat to mumineen.
